What does it really mean to be a human being? People all over the world want to become Christians, or Hindus, or Muslims, or Buddhists, or even rich or popular and the whole gamut of such labels. But are we ready to become a good human being? And if we are, then what does it mean to become a good human being? Living the life of a good human being is living spiritually.

The following nuggets of teaching are taken from the discourses of Aghoreshwar Baba Bhagwan Ramji.

I want to be blessed with everyone's blessings. Whether they are young or old, rich or destitute, I have respect for everyone. This is the greatest worship.

Live within society, live without ego. Do not lose the greater part of your valuable life hankering after prestige or recognition. All this is also known as meditation.

Real seekers worship the living beings in which God himself has established the life-force.

One who does not have any love for living and active beings, cannot have any love for the God of stone sitting in a temple, or the formless God of the mosque.

Sitting within us is the life-force, which cannot be prayed to. You will find it, away from eagerness, from aggravation, from desire, from ambition, and from considerations of us and them.

This golden body is not meant to look for someone else. One who appears to be looking and searching this way is looking for someone else and he has no idea about himself, he has no clue of it. You should understand the one who bows to his life-force. Every pore of his body resonates with the sound of Pranav (resonance of the mantra ‘Om’). Pure vibration of peace emanate from his body. Nothing arises in him, nothing sets in him.

Philosophy is merely a text unless it assumes a pragmatic shape and is practiced in behavior.

Today human beings contemplate about Rama, Krishna, Shiva, saints and Mahatmas, but do they ever contemplate about themselves? Till the time a human being does not show kindness to himself, till the time he does not make an effort to prevent himself from falling in filth, till that time all his meditation and worship are useless.

If a human being wants he can become a divinity, he can rise even higher than gods. If a human being wants he can also become a beast and can spend his life like lowly creatures.

O seeker! Stop feeding the fire of material desires to escape from attachments and jealousies. On doing so this, fire goes out. To attain the state of liberation (nirvana) these actions are necessary.

Free yourself from illusions induced by hearing, misunderstandings produced by seeing, doubts created by smelling, tasting, touching and speaking.

A person gets inspiration from two sources: first from the mind and then from the soul. There is a vast gulf of difference between the two. The soul provides the right inspiration to the heart. The mind, due to its fickle nature, misguides man in every moment hither and thither. Therefore, obey the dictates of your soul and do not fall prey to the antics of your mind or to ascetics and sanyasins with wavering minds.

Whenever a child comes into the womb, when that soul arrives, one should behave very nicely with his wife. He should leave her free to conduct works of charity, pious acts, meritorious acts, for nine months. One should not have a physical relation with her for that time or the child can produce distortions later. It can also turn out to be a lineage-destroyer, a destroyer of the whole family. That child then becomes a curse. Its whole life is then a curse for itself and for others too.

In our prayers, in our enunciation of words, in the things expressed by our speech there is great energy. This energy travels throughout the cosmos very fast. In the same way that modern scientific instruments produce electrical current that travels very fast, our acts also produce vibrations. They vibrate through the whole cosmos instantly.

Do not voice the deep knowledge residing within you. It will express itself in your behavior. Transform "meaninglessness" in life into "meaningfulness" for the purpose of everyone's happiness and everyone's welfare.

Never do anything only because others are doing it. “One who does yoga as a copy cat weakens his body and ruins his health”. Encourage your mind to mature. Avoid that which should not be done.

Display of spiritual powers is in bad taste. You have not received powers to deter people from their own action nor to produce easily for them whatever they desire. Such displays weaken your spiritual pursuit.
