　　亚巴郎之子，达味之子耶稣基督的族谱：亚巴郎生依撒格，依撒格生雅各伯，雅各伯生犹大和他的兄弟们；犹大由塔玛尔生培勒兹和则辣黑，培勒兹生赫兹龙，赫兹龙生阿兰，阿兰生阿米纳达布，阿米纳达布生纳赫雄，纳赫雄生撒耳孟，撒耳孟由辣哈布生波阿次，波阿次由卢德生敖贝得，敖贝得生叶瑟，叶瑟生达味王。达味由乌黎雅的妻子生撒罗满，撒罗满生勒哈贝罕，勒哈贝罕生阿彼雅，阿彼雅生阿撒，阿撒生约沙法特，约沙法特生约兰，约兰生乌齐雅，乌齐雅生约堂，约堂生阿哈次，阿哈次生希则克雅，希则克雅生默纳舍，默纳舍生阿孟，阿孟生约史雅，约史雅在巴比伦流徙期间生耶苛尼雅和他的兄弟们。流徙巴比伦以后，耶苛尼雅生沙耳提耳，沙耳提耳生则鲁巴贝耳，则鲁巴贝耳生阿彼乌得，阿彼乌得生厄里雅金，厄里雅金生阿左尔。阿左尔生匝多克，匝多克生阿歆，阿歆生厄里乌得，厄里乌得生厄肋阿匝尔，厄肋阿匝尔生玛堂，玛堂生雅各伯，雅各伯生若瑟、玛利亚的丈夫，玛利亚生耶稣，他称为基督。所以从亚巴郎到达味共十四代，从达味到流徙巴比伦共十四代，从流徙巴比伦到基督共十四代。

耶稣基督的族谱，清楚告诉我们耶稣是历史中的真人，和我们一样有自己的家族史。不过耶稣的家族是一个特殊的家族——“亚巴郎之子、达味之子耶稣基督的族谱”。亚巴郎是信仰之父，预示耶稣基督将成为信仰的中心；达味是君王，预示耶稣基督将成为普世的君王。
在耶稣的族谱中，特别提到五位女人：塔玛尔（原是犹大的儿媳）、辣哈布（原是个妓女）、卢德（原是个非常孝顺的寡妇）、巴特舍巴（原是乌黎雅的妻子）、玛利亚（是童贞女，又是母亲）。人们会问：天主之子耶稣基督的家族中，竟有这么不光彩的人物，为什么还特别写出来，不写出来不是更好吗？历史就是历史，没有人会变更，是非曲直由后人判断。
族谱中提到：犹大由塔玛尔生……
撒耳孟由辣合布生……
波阿次由卢德生……
达味由乌黎雅的妻子生……
而到了玛利亚时，没有说若瑟生耶稣……却说玛利亚生耶稣，是因为耶稣的诞生是因圣神与圣母的结合。玛利亚是童贞女，又是母亲。
从亚巴郎到达味共十四代：说明信仰使人走向高峰，告诉我们信仰的力量无限，信仰产生奇迹，从游牧走上君王的宝座。在俗人的眼里是飞黄腾达，一步登天。“十四”是由两个七组成，在犹太文化中象征圆满。
从达味到流徙巴比伦共十四代：从君王的优越生活到流亡的生活，由高峰走到了人生的最低谷，无家可归，四处流浪。
“富贵不能淫”圣人也难以做到。达味抢走了乌黎雅的妻子，还把乌黎雅杀死。对乌黎雅来讲：“真是祸不单行。”对达味来讲不但抢了人家的妻子，还把人杀死。人在高位上容易骄傲，乱用权力；骄傲的后果自然是失败。
从流徙巴比伦到耶稣基督共十四代：人流亡时盼望回家，有了家也难回。人在流亡时，感受到人性的软弱与有限。人自己无法自救，如浪子回头的故事，若是父亲不接纳浪子，小儿子会怎么样呢？当今社会，青少年为何走上犯罪的道路？值得人们深思！
天上的父是多么的仁爱，打发自己的儿子来到世界上，受苦受难，拯救流亡的、无家可归的、有家不能回的罪人。再把人们引入信仰中，用信仰的超性眼光看一切所发生的事物。
耶稣的族谱中明显提到几个不完美的人物，告诉人们：人的过失，不能改变天主的计划。正如圣咏讲：“天主的计划永恒不变，祂心中的谋略万代长存”（咏32：11）。
人的一生也起伏不定，从不知忧愁的童年到奋斗的青年，走上婚姻的殿堂，如同从游牧到君王。从进入家庭到拼命的工作，加班到深夜或天亮，有家不能回，如同从君王到流亡。多数老年人，去安老院度过晚年，最后进入永恒的安息，如同从流亡到达美丽的天乡，享见基督君王。
主！耶稣基督！求祢让我们在无法改变的环境中，也能去发现祢、走进祢、并深深与祢契合。
